Upshift was founded by three Yugoslav-Americans and our HQ1 is in Cincinnati with HQ2 in Skopje. Almost 50% of our internal employees are located in Skopje though all of our clients and Upshifters are in the United States. You may choose to work in the office in Skopje or work remotely.

What we are looking for: 

We are looking for a driven Human Capital Representative to support our US based team members. You’ll tackle issues and challenges, while working directly with our Executive team. 

The Human Capital Representative will be responsible for assisting with internal employee payroll, event planning, employee provisioning and deprovisioning and activities to help employees connect and grow.

This role does not require you to work US hours unless there is an emergency in off hours which is unlikely to happen often. To be successful in this role you should be good with technology and people, and open to changing policies and procedures whenever needed to reduce bureaucracy and increase efficiency. You should also be fluent in English and comfortable interacting via Zoom with English speakers. 

Required skills:

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information and exercise good judgment and discretion in handling and disseminating information;
  • Basic knowledge of HR practices and willingness to stay current on HR legal and compliance issues;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced environment;
  • A result-driven attitude and willingness to create a positive employee experience;
  • Desire to grow within the company and take on additional challenges;

This role also requires:

  • Excellent knowledge of Excel;
  • Excellent knowledge of English;
  • Excellent organization and time management skills;
  • Accuracy and attention to details with a high sense of responsibility;
  • A Western mindset towards work;

Below are preferred items for this role:

  • Experience working in a similar role or in a startup environment; 
  • Experience working on HR for US based employees; 
  • Experience with HRIS software (payroll systems, employment laws, benefits and HR principles);
  • Experience with event planning;

This role is also eligible for stock options in Upshift (ownership). This job can also be worked remotely and on Central European hours though there are times when you may be required to work later than standard hours if needed to attend a meeting on US Eastern Time.
